Bill Clay, former Congressman and founder
of the William L. Clay Scholarship & Research Fund
(WLCSRF), has authored a new book that reflects on his
role in The Jefferson Bank Confrontation.
EXCERPT:
“The history of struggle for civil rights in St.
Louis is incomplete without recording the import of
the Jefferson Bank protest and its impact on the course
of advancement for Negro citizens.”
“This book provides insight into the dynamics
of the struggle for economic equity and political parity,
explaining reasons for the demonstrations, reflecting
on the crisis in employment faced by blacks, describing
the arrest of more than 500, and discussing why some
preferred jail than apologize…”
All proceeds from sales of The Jefferson Bank Confrontation
will go to the WLCSRF
